An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering a landmark £50 million construction project in Cardiff.
This is a key site-based role where you will take ownership of all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) activities across a large-scale building project, ensuring the highest standards of compliance, safety culture, and operational excellence are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
The Role
As Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of HSE on site, working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and senior management to drive a proactive safety culture.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing all site Health, Safety & Environmental activities
* Ensuring compliance with current HSE legislation and company procedures
* Conducting site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
* Leading incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
* Delivering toolbox talks and safety briefings
* Supporting and advising site management teams on best practice
* Monitoring subcontractor compliance and performance
* Preparing HSE reports and documentation
* Promoting continuous improvement across all HSE processes
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
* Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager within the construction industry
* Experience working on large-scale building or commercial construction projects
* Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to influence and drive a positive safety culture on site
* CSCS card and relevant construction safety qualifications
