Design Manager

A well-established and growing main contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join its team based in Paddock Wood, delivering a range of high-quality projects across the South East.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected contractor with a strong reputation for delivering projects across sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, residential and mixed-use developments.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, on programme and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing and coordinating the design process across multiple projects
Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal delivery teams
Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical submissions
Identifying and resolving design and buildability issues
Ensuring design information is issued in line with project programmes
Supporting operational and commercial teams throughout delivery
Ensuring compliance with current regulations and technical standards
Attending design, progress and coordination meetings

Requirements

Previous experience working as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment
Strong understanding of Design & Build projects
Experience delivering projects within commercial, education, healthcare, residential or mixed-use sectors
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Strong technical and problem-solving ability
Relevant construction qualification preferred (HNC/HND/Degree)
