A leading UK infrastructure and civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of major infrastructure and utility projects across long-term frameworks and standalone schemes.

Operating across sectors including water, energy, transport, and the built environment, the business delivers complex projects ranging from smaller reactive works through to large multi-million-pound infrastructure programmes. The Role

Working closely with operational and commercial teams, you will play a key role in managing project costs, contractual obligations, subcontractor performance, and commercial reporting across a varied portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

Projects typically range from £200k to £10m+ and include framework schemes, maintenance works, capital delivery projects, and emergency response works.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management

• Prepare accurate cost/value reporting and monthly CVRs
• Monitor project costs, forecasting, and cash flow performance
• Manage upstream applications, valuations, and final accounts
• Support change management, compensation events, and claims processes

Contracts & Procurement

• Administer NEC and IChemE forms of contract
• Manage subcontract agreements from procurement through to final account
• Maintain strong supply chain relationships and performance standards
• Ensure contractual compliance and commercial governance across projects

Reporting & Processes

• Produce regular commercial reports and forecasting updates
• Ensure internal commercial procedures and deadlines are maintained
• Contribute to process improvements and best practice initiatives across the business

About You

Essential

• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role within civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or construction
• Strong understanding of NEC contracts (IChemE knowledge beneficial)
• Experience managing subcontractors and commercial reporting processes
• Good understanding of forecasting, cost control, and change management
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and commercial reporting tools
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple project priorities

Desirable

• HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
• MRICS or working towards professional accreditation
• Experience working for a self-delivery contractor
• CSCS Card
• Exposure to utilities, water, rail, or infrastructure frameworks
