Estimator
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established and growing construction business with an excellent reputation across the industry. My client is open to considering candidates from either a Main Contractor or Sub Contractor background, providing you have strong commercial awareness and proven experience producing accurate and competitive tenders.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Estimator looking to join a forward-thinking company delivering high-quality projects across sectors including commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, education, civils, fit out, and infrastructure.
The Role
As Estimator, you will play a key role within the pre-construction team, responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, analysing tender documents, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors, and helping secure profitable projects.
You will work closely with commercial, operational, and design teams to ensure tenders are completed accurately, competitively, and within deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions from first principles
Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
Producing accurate bills of quantities and take-offs
Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations
Identifying project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal departments
Attending tender review meetings and site visits where required
Maintaining strong market knowledge of material and labour costs
Supporting handovers to delivery and commercial teams upon project award
Ensuring all submissions are completed within strict deadlines
Requirements
Previous experience working as an Estimator within construction
Background working for either a Main Contractor or Sub Contractor
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing
Experience pricing projects across one or multiple sectors
Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software packages
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Desirable
Experience with JCT and/or NEC contracts
Knowledge of current market rates and supply chain networks
Experience using software such as Conquest, Causeway, Bluebeam, Candy, or similar estimating platforms
