Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Birmingham

We are currently working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a range of refurbishment and construction projects across the West Midlands, including Prison Refurbishment schemes.

We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support Site and Project Surveyors across pre and post contract activities, commercial functions and contract reporting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their commercial career within a supportive and fast paced construction environment.

Duties and responsibilities

Carrying out regular site safety inspections and reviewing subcontractor safety checks

Supporting Site and Project Surveyors across live projects

Completing on site measurements and take offs while maintaining accurate commercial records

Supporting valuations, cost tracking, day works and contract obligations

Learning and supporting monthly CVR and commercial reporting processes

Communicating professionally with clients, subcontractors and internal teams

Reviewing objectives with management and maintaining development action plans

Taking ownership of training, development and personal progression

Tickets/Qualifications

Working towards or holding an RICS-accredited or construction-related degree

Experience Required

Basic knowledge of construction methods, measurement & valuation, cost control, procurement and contract records

Previous construction or commercial placement experience would be advantageous

Ability to manage workload in a fast paced project environment

Strong willingness to learn and progress within a successful Tier 1 contractor environment
