Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support engineering and construction activities on a recycling operational site in Sunderland. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications and programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Setting out and supervising site works.
Coordinating subcontractors and site activities.
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Carrying out site inspections and quality checks.
Reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Maintaining accurate site records and progress reports.
Supporting permit systems and operational site procedures.
Monitoring progress against programme and reporting issues to management.
Assisting with commissioning and handover activities.
Liaising with project managers, client representatives, and operational staff.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Site Engineer on industrial, utilities, energy, or civil engineering projects.
Experience working on live operational or process sites preferred.
Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and CDM requirements.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
CSCS Card essential.
SMSTS or SSSTS preferred.
First Aid qualification desirable.
Proficient with setting out equipment and reporting systems.
Desirable Experience
Waste management, recycling, or energy-from-waste sector experience.
Permit-to-work systems.
Temporary works coordination knowledge.
Mechanical or civil background.
Working Pattern
Monday to Friday.
Possible weekend work depending on project requirements.
Immediate start available.
