Project Manager – Network Rail Interface & Infrastructure Monitoring
Location: Birmingham
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a major infrastructure programme delivering complex rail interface and monitoring works on one of the UK’s largest transport projects.
This role will focus on managing Network Rail interfacing packages alongside instrumentation and monitoring (I&M) activities associated with tunnelling, excavation, and structural works within sensitive infrastructure environments.
The successful candidate will oversee surveying, monitoring, subcontract management, and Network Rail coordination activities while supporting the delivery of critical rail interface packages throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage instrumentation and monitoring (I&M) activities across the project
• Coordinate surveying and monitoring works from scope definition through to implementation and control
• Manage I&M subcontractors and ensure works are delivered in accordance with project requirements
• Implement monitoring action plans and ensure compliance with Contractors Monitoring Plans (CMP)
• Liaise directly with Network Rail regarding monitoring and interface activities
• Lead and coordinate Network Rail interfacing packages, including ground investigations and retaining wall works
• Support delivery teams to ensure works are completed safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards
• Drive collaboration across project teams, stakeholders, and supply chain partners
• Support resource planning, programme coordination, and subcontractor management

Candidate Requirements:
• Previous experience working as a Project Manager on rail, infrastructure, or heavy civils projects
• Strong understanding of Network Rail interface requirements and live rail environments
• Experience managing instrumentation & monitoring, surveying, or geotechnical packages advantageous
• Proven ability in managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams
• Experience delivering work within complex infrastructure or Tier 1 contractor environments
• Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills
