We’re supporting a well‑established Tier 1 organisation with a strong regional presence as they look to strengthen their pre‑construction and delivery teams with a high‑calibre planner. This is a permanent opportunity offering long‑term progression, exposure to major projects, and the chance to influence programme strategy from tender stage through to completion.
As the appointed planner, you’ll work closely with project managers, commercial teams, and operational leads to develop robust, realistic, and fully resourced programmes. You’ll play a key role in shaping build methodology, identifying risks, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with client expectations.
This contractor delivers a diverse portfolio of work across the North East, including commercial, education, healthcare, and public‑sector schemes, giving you the opportunity to work on varied and technically interesting projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop tender and live project programmes using Asta Powerproject or similar
* Produce sequencing, methodology, and phasing plans to support bids and delivery
* Monitor progress, identify delays, and propose mitigation strategies
* Attend progress meetings and provide clear programme updates to stakeholders
* Work collaboratively with site teams to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting
* Support continuous improvement in planning processes and project controls
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as a planner within a main contractor environment
* Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, and project lifecycles
* Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
* Proactive approach to problem‑solving and risk management
* Competent with planning software and confident producing detailed programme reports
