Senior Estimator – Tier 1 Civil Engineering Contractor

Location: Hertfordshire or Central London (flexible/hybrid working available)
Projects: UK-wide major infrastructure schemes

The Opportunity

We are working in partnership with a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join their high-performing pre-construction team.

This is a key strategic role, offering the opportunity to work on major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the UK. You will play a pivotal role in securing future work, shaping bid strategy, and contributing to the continued growth of a market-leading business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the estimating function on major tenders and frameworks
Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, pricing, and bid submissions
Review tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements
Develop pricing strategies aligned with wider business objectives
Liaise with internal stakeholders including commercial, planning, design, and operational teams
Identify risks and opportunities within tenders and implement mitigation strategies
Mentor and support junior estimators within the team
Engage with clients, supply chain partners, and stakeholders during bid phases

About You

Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within a Tier 1 or large civil engineering contractor
Strong background in infrastructure projects
Excellent understanding of UK construction contracts
Ability to lead bids and manage multiple tenders simultaneously
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
Effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
