About the Client
SSA Recruitment are currently partnering with a leading M&E contractor seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their QS career while gaining exposure to major projects and all aspects of commercial project delivery.
About the Role
Duties May Include:
* Assisting with the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account
* Supporting the preparation of valuations, payment applications and commercial reporting
* Assisting with subcontractor procurement, account management and final account agreements
* Monitoring project costs, budgets and forecasting alongside senior commercial staff
* Supporting the management of project variations, change control and commercial risk
* Maintaining accurate project records, meeting documentation and commercial correspondence
* Assisting with cost reporting, cashflow forecasting and project performance analysis
* Supporting supply chain management and subcontractor performance reviews
* Working closely with operational teams to support successful project delivery
* Contributing to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives across projects
Requirements:
Essential
* Degree qualified, or currently working towards a Quantity Surveying qualification
* Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
* Good understanding of commercial processes within construction projects
* Confident using Microsoft Office packages including Excel and Word
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within project teams
* Eagerness to develop professionally within a commercial construction environment
Desired
* Understanding of JCT or NEC forms of contract
* Previous placement or industry experience within construction or M&E
* Working towards professional accreditation such as RICS or CIOB
* Awareness of cost reporting, variations and project forecasting processes
