About the Client

SSA Recruitment are currently partnering with a leading M&E contractor seeking a talented Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team. The business delivers complex mechanical and electrical packages across major commercial, residential, and mission‑critical projects, and is now looking for an experienced QS to oversee cost management, procurement, subcontractor administration, and contractual compliance. This role offers the chance to play a key part in the financial delivery of high‑value MEP works within a progressive, growing contractor.

About the Role
Duties May Include:

* Lead full commercial management of M&E packages from pre‑contract through final account.

* Administer main contracts and subcontracts, including valuations, variations, change control and claims.

* Manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow and detailed cost reporting in line with company procedures.

* Oversee procurement, tendering, negotiation and subcontractor appointments, ensuring value and compliance.

* Provide commercial insight, risk management and support on design development, programme changes and value engineering.

* Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain, managing expectations on change and payments.

* Support dispute avoidance and resolution, ensuring contractual obligations and notices are met.

* Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities and recovery of client‑driven changes.

* Mentor and support junior commercial staff, promoting strong commercial discipline across the project team.

Requirements:

* Proven experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor or specialist building services contractor, ideally with relevant sector exposure.

* Proven ability to manage and deliver high‑value, technically complex MEP packages.

* Strong working knowledge of standard construction contracts, particularly JCT.

* Confident commercial judgement with strong negotiation skills and experience overseeing major subcontract packages.

* Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a similar discipline.

* Professional accreditation such as MRICS/BCIS is advantageous but not essential.

* Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the drive to progress toward senior commercial leadership
