Quantity Surveyor – Building
Location: Birmingham, England
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established Building team, supporting the commercial delivery of projects across the East Midlands. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key commercial activities across one or more projects, working closely with senior commercial staff and operational teams to ensure successful financial outcomes.
You will play an important role in protecting project margins, managing subcontractor accounts, and ensuring accurate cost control and reporting throughout the project lifecycle. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to further develop their career within a leading Tier 1 contractor environment.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will:
Support the commercial management of projects, including cost control, forecasting, and reporting
Assist in the procurement and administration of subcontractor packages
Manage valuations, variations, and applications for payment
Contribute to monthly cost/value reconciliation and financial reporting
Work closely with operational teams to support project delivery and identify commercial risks and opportunities
About You
You will be a motivated and detail-focused Quantity Surveyor with experience in a main contractor environment.
You will bring:
Experience working on construction projects in a commercial capacity
Understanding of measurement, valuation, and standard forms of contract
Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively within a project team environment
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Experience across sectors such as health, education, commercial, or mixed-use projects is desirable. Working towards or holding RICS membership is an advantage.
