Salary: £55,000 – £65,000
About the Role
We are working with our client, a specialist contractor within the roofing and cladding sector, who are seeking an experienced Roofing & Cladding Design Manager to join their growing technical team in Wrexham.
This is a key leadership role within the design function, responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality design solutions across a range of commercial and industrial roofing and cladding projects. You will play a central role in ensuring designs are accurate, buildable, compliant, and aligned with project and client requirements.
The role will suit someone with strong technical knowledge of roofing and cladding systems, combined with proven experience managing design output on projects from tender stage through to construction and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the design process for roofing and cladding projects from concept through to completion
Review and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and employer requirements
Coordinate design outputs across internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders
Ensure all designs are compliant with relevant building regulations and industry standards
Oversee detailing for roofing systems, cladding packages, and associated façade elements
Manage design programmes and ensure deliverables are met to project deadlines
Provide technical support to pre-construction, commercial, and project delivery teams
Liaise closely with site teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and efficiently delivered
Support value engineering and design optimisation opportunities
Maintain high standards of quality assurance across all design outputs
Key Requirements
Proven experience in a Design Manager or Senior Designer role within roofing, cladding, or façades
Strong technical knowledge of roofing systems, cladding panels, rainscreen façades, and associated detailing
Experience working on commercial, industrial, or large-scale construction projects
Ability to manage multiple design packages simultaneously
Strong understanding of construction sequencing and buildability
Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g. AutoCAD or similar)
Excellent communication and coordination skills across multiple stakeholders
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to deadlines
