Senior Project Manager
Our tier 1 Water sector client are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of a £25 million wastewater project in the Thames Valley region on a permanent basis.
You will be responsible for end-to-end project delivery across programme, commercial, technical, and operational performance.
This is a high-profile role requiring strong leadership, exceptional commercial acumen, and proven experience managing projects under NEC3/NEC4 contracts, alongside robust subcontractor management capabilities.
Responsibilities
Lead the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of a £25m wastewater project from inception through to completion.
Take full accountability for programme, budget, risk, and quality performance.
Provide strong leadership to multidisciplinary delivery teams, fostering a high-performance, safety-first culture.
Manage all commercial aspects of the project, including forecasting, cost control, change management, and reporting.
Ensure compliance with NEC3/NEC4 contract mechanisms, including early warnings, compensation events, and programme management.
Oversee and drive effective subcontractor procurement, management, and performance, ensuring alignment with programme and commercial targets.
Maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, regulators, and supply chain partners.
Identify and mitigate project risks while driving opportunities for efficiency and value engineering.
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Provide clear and consistent reporting to senior stakeholders on project performance.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager on major infrastructure or water sector projects (£10m+).
Strong commercial acumen, with demonstrable ability to manage project finances and contractual obligations.
Extensive experience working under NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
Excellent subcontractor management skills, including procurement, performance management, and dispute resolution.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to motivate and drive project teams.
Solid understanding of wastewater or water treatment infrastructure projects.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working with or within Tier 1 contractors.
Ideally a degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
Desirable: Professional membership (e.g., ICE, CIOB, APM) or working towards chartership.
SMSTS or equivalent health & safety qualification.
