Mechanical Project Manager

£15m Residential Development

Salary: £75,000 – £85,000 + Package
Location: Basildon, Essex

A leading M&E contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead the delivery of a £15m mechanical package on a major residential development in Basildon.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of residential, mixed-use and high-rise projects across London and the South East. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the mechanical delivery of the project from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the mechanical installation, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing the full mechanical package from inception to completion.

Overseeing site teams, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.

*

Producing and managing project programmes in line with client requirements.

*

Monitoring project costs, variations and procurement schedules.

*

Leading progress meetings with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

*

Ensuring health and safety compliance across all site activities.

*

Managing labour resources and site productivity.

*

Reviewing technical drawings and coordinating design changes.

*

Working closely with commercial and design teams to ensure successful project delivery.

*

Managing commissioning activities and final handover documentation.

*

Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

*

Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within the M&E contracting sector.

*

Demonstrable track record delivering large-scale residential projects.

*

Experience managing mechanical packages valued between £5m and £20m+.

*

Strong understanding of HVAC, public health and mechanical building services systems.

*

Excellent commercial awareness and cost control experience.

*

Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and site teams effectively.

*

Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

*

Relevant mechanical qualifications within Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.

*

SMSTS, First Aid and CSCS certification preferred.

This role would suit an ambitious Mechanical Project Manager looking to take ownership of a flagship residential project and play a key role in the continued growth of a successful and expanding contractor
