Location: Somerset / Devon Border Region (Projects Across Bristol to Exeter)
Salary: £45,000 – £52,000 + Company Car + Comprehensive Benefits Package
A leading infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a portfolio of highways and civil engineering projects across the South West.
Working across multiple schemes valued between £1m and £12m, you'll play a key role in the commercial success of projects that improve local infrastructure, enhance transport networks and support regional growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor who enjoys taking ownership, working independently and being trusted to make decisions. Unlike many roles where commercial responsibilities are heavily managed, you'll be given genuine autonomy and the opportunity to develop the skills and experience needed to progress quickly into a Senior Quantity Surveyor position.
The role would suit someone based between Bristol and Exeter.
The Role
Reporting into the commercial leadership team, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day commercial management of several projects, working closely with operational teams to ensure strong commercial performance across your portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing project costs, budgets and forecasts
Subcontract procurement and commercial administration
Preparation and management of subcontract payments
Managing variations, change control and compensation events
Producing accurate cost reports and commercial forecasts
Supporting the preparation and agreement of client applications and final accounts
Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
Building strong relationships with project teams, clients and supply chain partners
Taking ownership of projects and driving commercial performance with minimal supervision
About You
We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within highways, civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities projects
Good commercial awareness and understanding of project controls
Knowledge of NEC contracts would be advantageous
The confidence to manage projects independently and take ownership of commercial decisions
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ambition to progress into a Senior Quantity Surveyor role in the near future
