Quantity Surveyor
Kenton Black are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor in Aberdeen.
The client, a well-established and reputable housebuilder, are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of residential developments across the North-East. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team and play a key role in managing project costs and ensuring financial efficiency from inception through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
– Managing all commercial aspects of residential construction projects from pre-construction through to final account
– Preparing cost plans, budgets, and tender documentation
– Procuring and managing subcontractor packages, including negotiation of terms and conditions
– Monitoring project costs, valuations, and cash flow forecasts
– Managing variations, claims, and final accounts
– Conducting site visits to assess progress and value completed works
– Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, and senior management
– Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and identifying opportunities for cost savings
– Preparing and presenting financial reports to senior stakeholders
– Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures
About You
– Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
– Strong track record working on residential projects
– Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
– Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills
– Strong negotiation and communication skills
– Good understanding of construction processes and cost management principles
– Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
– Proficient in relevant software and commercial reporting tools
– Full UK driving licence
Desirable
– Experience working for a housebuilder or main contractor
– Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS or CIOB)
– Strong understanding of the local market
