Senior Estimator – Liverpool

An award-winning national contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join its Liverpool team. The business has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects across a diverse range of sectors and is recognised for its strong culture, collaborative approach, and exceptional staff retention. Employing approximately 50 staff, the majority of employees have been with the company for over five years, reflecting the stability and positive working environment they have created.

Delivering projects valued up to £5m, the contractor operates across healthcare, education, industrial, aviation, leisure, fit-out, refurbishment, and general construction sectors, securing a significant volume of repeat business through long-standing client relationships and consistently high standards of delivery.

The Role

Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, the Senior Estimator will take ownership of the tendering function, preparing competitive and accurate estimates across a varied portfolio of projects.

This position offers a genuine opportunity to shape and develop the estimating department. The successful candidate will be given the autonomy to influence processes, introduce improvements, and play a key role in the future direction of the business. Key Responsibilities

* Preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions

* Managing the full tender process from enquiry through to submission

* Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers

* Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations

* Supporting bid presentations and contract negotiations

* Maintaining and developing estimating databases and cost information

* Driving improvements in estimating processes and procedures

Requirements

* Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within a main contracting environment

* Experience pricing refurbishment, fit-out, and general construction projects

* Strong commercial awareness and technical understanding of construction methods

* Ability to interpret drawings and specifications accurately

* Excellent analytical and negotiation skills

* Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities

* Experience with estimating software and a desire to improve systems and processes

* Self-motivated with the confidence to challenge existing practices and introduce new ideas
