An established multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to support the delivery of projects across a range of sectors in their West Midlands office. This role will focus on leading health and safety compliance throughout the pre-construction phase in accordance with CDM 2015 regulations.

Responsibilities
Act as Principal Designer in accordance with CDM 2015 regulations.
Plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate health and safety throughout the pre-construction phase.
Identify, eliminate, and control foreseeable risks through effective design risk management.
Coordinate with clients, designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Prepare Pre-Construction Information (PCI) and facilitate design risk review meetings and workshops.
Ensure designers fulfil their duties under CDM 2015 and provide advice to clients on their responsibilities.
Liaise with Principal Contractors and support effective risk management throughout project delivery.
Prepare, review, and coordinate Health and Safety Files for client handover upon project completion.
Requirements
Significant experience within a CDM, Health & Safety, or design-related role in the construction industry.
Strong working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.
Experience working across sectors such as commercial, residential, education, or infrastructure.
Strong understanding of construction design processes and risk mitigation principles.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and report writing skills.
Experience acting as Principal Designer on medium to large-scale projects and within a consultancy environment is desirable.
