An independent property consultancy in Cornwall is looking to appoint an experienced Building Surveyor to support continued growth across its private client offering.

This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor who enjoys spending the majority of their time undertaking pre-acquisition surveys and providing detailed advice on a diverse range of residential properties. The workload is heavily focused on quality over quantity, with instructions including substantial family homes, coastal residences, converted properties, period buildings and architect-designed homes.

The successful candidate will benefit from a steady flow of survey work, autonomy in managing their diary and the chance to work closely with a well-established client base throughout Cornwall and the wider South West.

Responsibilities

Carrying out residential property inspections across a varied portfolio of homes

Preparing Level 2 and Level 3 survey reports

Assessing building condition and identifying defects, risks and maintenance requirements

Providing clear and practical advice to purchasers and property owners

Liaising directly with clients to discuss survey findings

Managing instructions efficiently from appointment through to report completion

Maintaining high professional and technical standards

Contributing to the ongoing success of a growing surveying team

Requirements

MRICS qualified or working towards chartership

Previous experience undertaking residential surveys independently

Sound understanding of traditional and modern construction methods

Strong diagnostic and reporting skills

Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical clients

Organised and self-motivated approach to workload management

Full UK driving licence

Salary & Benefits

£50,000 – £65,000 depending on experience
