JL Renewables are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Planner to support the delivery of major National Grid transmission and substation projects in North Wales.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading infrastructure contractor delivering critical transmission and distribution projects across the UK energy sector.
We are specifically looking for candidates with proven National Grid substation experience. Applicants without previous National Grid transmission or substation project experience are unlikely to be considered.
The Role
Working closely with the Project Delivery Team, you will support the development and management of project programmes across complex HV substation projects, ensuring robust planning, progress monitoring and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining project schedules, analysing programme performance and supporting project teams with planning and programme management activities.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Primavera P6 project programmes.
*
Produce detailed construction schedules and programme updates.
*
Monitor progress against programme baselines.
*
Support project reporting and performance analysis.
*
Undertake critical path analysis and look-ahead planning.
*
Identify programme risks and support mitigation planning.
*
Assist with programme recovery and change management activities.
*
Review subcontractor programmes and monitor progress.
*
Attend project progress meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
*
Work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and Commercial Teams to support successful project delivery.
Essential Requirements
*
Previous experience as a Project Planner within the Power, Energy, Utilities or Infrastructure sectors.
*
Proven National Grid substation project experience.
*
Experience working on transmission and distribution infrastructure projects.
*
Strong Primavera P6 capability.
*
Understanding of construction planning principles and programme management.
*
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Highly Desirable
*
Experience on 132kV, 275kV or 400kV substation projects.
*
National Grid framework experience.
*
NEC contract knowledge.
*
GIS or AIS substation experience.
*
Exposure to project controls, earned value or reporting functions.
*
Grid connection or BESS project experience.
Working Arrangements
North Wales project locations.
Expected site attendance of 2-3 days per week.
Flexible remote working outside of site attendance requirements.
