Estimator
Our client, a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor, is seeking an Estimator to join their established Pre-Construction team based in Birmingham.
With an excellent reputation across the UK construction sector, our client delivers major projects across commercial, education, healthcare, residential, industrial, and public sector markets. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work, they are looking to strengthen their estimating function with the appointment of a talented Estimator.
The Role
Reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tender submissions, supporting the successful delivery of projects ranging from £10m to £100m+ in value.
Working closely with operational, commercial, and design teams, you will play a key role in securing future projects and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.
* Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and employer requirements.
* Undertake quantity take-offs and pricing exercises.
* Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
* Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
* Support bid strategy and settlement meetings.
* Liaise with clients, consultants, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate records of estimates and tender documentation.
* Monitor market trends, material costs, and procurement opportunities.
Requirements
* Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction industry.
* Experience working for a Main Contractor on building projects.
* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
* Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software packages.
Desirable
* Experience working on projects valued between £10m and £100m+.
* Tier 1 or large regional contractor background.
* Construction-related qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent).
* Knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
