Planner

Kenton Black are delighted to be supporting a leading Tier 1 construction contractor in their search for an experienced Planner to join their expanding team in Dundee.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven planning professional looking to advance their career within a well-established main contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects across the region. Working closely with project and operational teams, you will play a key role in developing, monitoring, and managing construction programmes to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
– Develop detailed tender and construction programmes using industry-standard planning software
– Monitor project progress, identifying delays, risks, and opportunities, and advising project teams accordingly
– Conduct regular site visits to gather accurate progress data and ensure alignment with programme milestones
– Prepare short-term and long-term planning schedules, ensuring realistic sequencing and resource allocation
– Produce progress reports, critical path analyses, and programme updates for senior stakeholders
– Support project teams with planning input during pre-construction, delivery, and handover stages
– Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure clear communication of programme requirements
– Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies and best-practice planning methodologies

What You Bring
– Previous experience in a planning role within construction or civil engineering
– Strong understanding of construction sequencing, methodologies, and project delivery processes
– Proficiency with planning software such as Asta Powerproject or Primavera P6
– Ideally educated to degree level in construction, engineering, or a related discipline
– Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
– Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams
– A proactive approach with strong problem-solving capability and attention to detail
– Flexibility to operate within a hybrid working model and attend sites as required
