An established specialist contractor is growing its commercial team following a recent change. They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a few years' experience who is ready to step into a broader, more accountable role to work in their M&E team.
This is an urgent requirement, so candidates on short notice (or immediately available) are highly desirable.
The role
Manage commercial aspects of projects from start to finish
Work closely with the Commercial Lead while developing autonomy
Office based near Hitchin, with site visits across London / South East
Exposure to varied projects – not siloed or repetitive workWhat we're looking for
This role is ideal for someone who already has a strong QS foundation and is looking to step up and take ownership. You don't need to have M&E experience, just the drive and interest to work in that sector.
You will bring:
Solid experience in cost control, budgeting and reporting
Hands-on involvement in valuations, variations and final accounts
Experience supporting or leading subcontractor procurement and management
Understanding of contract administration
Ability to track project performance and flag commercial risks
Strong numerical accuracy with clear, confident communication
M&E experience would be great but not essentialBut most importantly:
