The Opportunity

We are recruiting on behalf of a highly respected M&E contractor with a turnover of approximately £45 million and a successful trading history spanning more than 60 years.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager to oversee the delivery of multiple fast-track retail projects across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Mechanical Contracts Manager looking for autonomy, flexibility, and the chance to work directly alongside senior leadership within a long-established and financially secure business.

Offering hybrid working and the freedom to manage your own diary, this role will see you take ownership of several projects simultaneously, ensuring successful delivery from pre-construction through to handover.

The Role

Reporting directly to a Director, you will be responsible for managing multiple mechanical projects concurrently, with individual project values ranging up to £2 million.

Projects are predominantly fast-track retail refurbishments and fit-outs, requiring a proactive approach, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, programmes, and site teams across the country.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the successful delivery of multiple mechanical projects simultaneously

Manage projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover

Lead project planning, programming, and resource allocation

Monitor project costs, profitability, forecasts, and variations

Manage site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders

Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget

Attend client meetings and maintain strong relationships with key accounts

Provide regular operational and commercial updates to the Director

Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies

Drive quality standards and ensure successful project outcomes

Support business growth through repeat business and client development

About You

We are looking to speak with experienced Mechanical Contracts Managers who thrive in fast-paced environments and have a proven track record managing multiple projects at any one time.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Mechanical Contracts Manager within the Building Services or M&E sector

Experience delivering retail, commercial fit-out, refurbishment, or fast-track projects

Strong understanding of mechanical building services installations

Experience managing multiple projects concurrently

Commercially aware with experience managing project finances, variations, and reporting

Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills

Excellent planning and organisational abilities

Full UK driving licence

Willingness to travel nationwide as required
