Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer📍 Reading🕒 Permanent💰 Salary: £31,855 – £40,630 + overtime, travel time & out-of-hours retainer🚀 Realistic OTE up to £60,000
About the RoleWe are currently seeking an experienced Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer to join a growing and highly motivated team delivering essential safety services across the Social Housing sector.This role focusses on PPM servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and repair of life safety systems, ensuring full compliance with health and safety standards. Each day will bring a variety of environments and locations, where you will act as a key representative of the business, providing excellent customer service and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Service, maintain, fault-find, install, and commission:
Fire alarm systems (analogue addressable & conventional)
Automatic Opening Vents (AOVs)
CCTV systems
Access control systems
Warden call systems
Fire extinguishers
Complete accurate service and maintenance reports
Identify and report system faults, deficiencies, or deviations
Maintain and test emergency lighting systems and associated equipment
Manage van stock levels and coordinate replenishment
Promote a strong health & safety culture, identifying and reporting risks
Deliver a "first-time fix" wherever possible
About YouWe are looking for someone who is reliable, detail-focused, and committed to high standards of safety and service.✅ Full UK driving licence
✅ Proven experience with fire alarm systems
✅ Knowledge of BS5839 (Part 1 and Part 6)
✅ FIA training or equivalent (BS5839-1 Fundamentals)
