We are partnering with a leading structural steel fabricator delivering high-quality steel solutions across major UK commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

With a strong reputation for precision engineering, efficient fabrication, and innovative delivery, the business continues to grow its engineering capability. As part of this expansion, they are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Engineer to join their team in a fully remote capacity, supporting projects from design through to fabrication and installation.

About the Role

As a Structural Steel Engineer, you will take technical responsibility for the design, coordination, and detailing of structural steelwork projects. Working closely with design, workshop, and site teams, you will ensure all steel designs are practical, cost-effective, and fabrication-ready.

This is a remote role, giving you flexibility while remaining closely connected to project delivery teams across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support the design of structural steelwork for fabrication and construction projects

Produce and review steel connection designs, calculations, and detailing packages

Ensure compliance with Eurocodes, British Standards, and project specifications

Liaise with fabricators, detailers, and site teams to ensure buildable and efficient designs

Review GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and workshop information

Support value engineering and identify cost-effective design solutions

Provide technical input during pre-construction and live project phases

Coordinate with project managers, designers, and external consultants

Conduct technical reviews and resolve engineering queries from site and fabrication teams

What We're Looking For

3-5+ years' experience in structural steel engineering (fabrication-focused preferred)

Strong understanding of steel structures, connection design, and fabrication processes

Experience working with Eurocodes and UK construction standards

Proficiency with structural design/detailing software (e.g. Tekla Structures, Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, or similar)

Strong commercial awareness and understanding of buildability and cost efficiency

Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Excellent communication skills for coordinating across multiple teams
