Practitioner (Carpentry & Joinery) 🚨

I'm currently supporting a fantastic Further Education College that's looking to appoint a Practitioner (Carpentry & Joinery) to join their Construction Crafts team for the 2026/27 academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Carpenter or Joiner who's passionate about the trade and wants to pass on their knowledge to the next generation. Whether you're already working in education or looking to move out of industry, this role offers the chance to make a real impact while continuing to work in a practical, hands-on environment.

💼 What you'll be doing:
* Delivering practical demonstrations and skills-based instruction within Carpentry & Joinery workshops (up to 500 teaching hours per academic year)
* Supporting learners to develop industry-standard practical skills and safe working practices
* Assisting students with practical assessments and portfolio evidence
* Preparing materials, tools and equipment for workshop sessions
* Maintaining workshops, machinery, tools and stock to ensure they remain safe, organised and industry standard
* Providing technical support to teaching staff across the Construction department
* Monitoring learner progress, attendance, welfare and engagement
* Developing practical learning resources to enhance the student experience
* Supporting recruitment events, open days and student inductions
* Ensuring excellent standards of health & safety, hygiene and workshop compliance at all times

👤 What we're looking for:
* A relevant Level 2 (or above) Carpentry & Joinery qualification or recognised trade competence
* Recent industry experience within Carpentry & Joinery
* An understanding of current construction industry practices
* Previous experience coaching, mentoring, training or assessing others is desirable
* An Assessor qualification (A1/CAVA) or willingness to work towards one
* A teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve one within three years)
* Good IT, organisational and communication skills
* A proactive, flexible and team-focused approach
* A genuine passion for supporting learners to succeed

📍 Location: Kent
💰 Salary: £33,799 per annum
⏰ Hours: 37 hours per week, Full Time (52 weeks per year)
