Vehicle Movements – Guide HGVs, dumpers, delivery lorries in/out of site safely

Crane Duties – Act as slinger signaller: attach loads, give hand signals to crane operator

Traffic Management – Set up cones, barriers, signage. Control pedestrians vs vehicles

Reversing – Stand where the driver can see you and guide them with clear signals

HSE – Maintain exclusion zones, stop unsafe acts, do daily checks on radios/flags

Paperwork – Vehicle movement logs, toolbox talks, near-miss reports

Key Skills Needed

Clear hand signals + radio comms – must know BS 7121 signals

Situational awareness – people, cables, soft ground, other plantConfidence to stop a job if it’s unsafe

Basic knowledge of load weights, slings, and lifting gear if doing slinger work too

High-vis presence and loud voice
