Finance Manager – Construction

Location: Wendover, Buckinghamshire
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
Salary: Competitive / TBC

An established and growing construction business based in Wendover is looking to recruit an experienced Finance Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the company.

This is a key, office-based position suited to a Qualified Accountant with a strong construction background who is comfortable taking ownership of the finance function. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience across management accounts, cash flow, CIS, VAT and financial reporting, alongside experience of raising investment.

Experience using Sage is essential.

The Role

As Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

* Managing the day-to-day finance function across the business.

* Overseeing sales and purchase ledger activities.

* Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.

* Managing company cash flow, forecasting and budgets.

* Processing and reconciling company bank accounts.

* Administering CIS returns and ensuring ongoing compliance.

* Preparing and submitting VAT returns.

* Managing payroll liaison where required.

* Reconciling balance sheet accounts.

* Assisting with year-end accounts and submissions.

* Monitoring expenditure and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.

* Maintaining accurate financial records in line with current legislation.

* Supporting the wider business with financial information and reporting.

* Assisting with the raising of investment and funding requirements.

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, you will ideally have:

* Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Senior Finance professional.

* A recognised accountancy qualification – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.

* Construction industry experience – essential.

* Previous experience of raising investment/funding.

* Strong working knowledge of CIS and VAT.

* Excellent working knowledge of Sage accounting software.

* Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.

* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

* The ability to communicate confidently with colleagues and senior management.

* A self-motivated approach with the ability to manage your own workload and take ownership of the finance function.
