We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager / Supervisor to join the team delivering the prestigious Velindre Cancer Centre project in Cardiff. This is a high-profile healthcare scheme requiring a professional with proven experience in managing construction projects within live or complex hospital or healthcare environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising all on-site activities, coordinating with subcontractors and internal teams, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency are maintained throughout the build.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day operations of the construction site, ensuring works are carried out safely, on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
* Coordinate and supervise all site personnel and subcontractors.
* Ensure strict adherence to health & safety regulations and procedures.
* Work closely with project and commercial teams to support planning, logistics, and material procurement.
* Maintain accurate site records, including site diaries, progress reports, and quality checks.
* Attend and lead site meetings, providing updates on progress, challenges, and risk mitigation.
* Monitor and enforce project-specific quality control procedures and requirements.
* Act as the main point of contact for day-to-day site matters, liaising with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.
* Manage permits to work and ensure compliance with hospital and healthcare-specific safety protocols and infection control measures.
* Support delivery of key construction milestones and handover phases in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Requirements
* Proven experience working as a Site Manager or Site Supervisor on major construction / new build projects.
* Healthcare construction experience is essential, including working in live hospital environments or healthcare campus builds.
* Valid SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS card, and First Aid at Work certification.
* Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction sequencing, and quality assurance procedures.
* Ability to manage teams, solve problems proactively, and ensure programme and quality targets are met.
* Comfortable working in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
Desirable
* NVQ Level 6 or equivalent in Construction Site Management.
* Experience with infection control measures and cleanroom construction.
* Previous experience on large-scale healthcare projects (e.g., hospitals, specialist treatment centres).
