Quantity Surveyor – Power Sector Projects (Contract Position)

We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our client's dynamic team, working on high-profile projects within the power sector. This is a contract role with a start date of 16th June 2025, running until 19th December 2025.

In the UK, they have established a strong presence within the Electricity Transmission & Distribution sector, marking a new and successful chapter in their global operations. Their UK branch has recently secured substantial contracts, including a framework agreement with National Grid for substation projects ranging from £5 million to £50 million, as well as a framework with SSEN for projects up to £100 million.

Operating from state-of-the-art offices in central Birmingham, the client is rapidly expanding, driven by a dedicated team of industry experts. Their focus on innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence positions them as a key player in the UK’s Transmission & Distribution landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct monthly internal and client reporting through CVR and other commercial management procedures.

*

Optimise cash flow through the development of activity schedules, submission of monthly valuations, and control of subcontractor accounts.

*

Drive recovery of outstanding monies and resolve queries promptly.

*

Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering, and change events.

*

Manage change events in line with the contract, including early warnings, CE notifications, quotations, and implementations.

*

Produce cost estimates and subcontract enquiries for tender proposals and compensation events.

*

Maintain adherence to risk management procedures and financial compliance.

*

Prepare and manage sub-contracts from initiation to final account agreement.

*

Record commercial KPI data and ensure compliance with payment timescales.

*

Support the project delivery teams in maximising profitability while maintaining positive client and subcontractor relationships.

*

Mentor and support junior team members, fostering professional development.

Requirements:

*

Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor.

*

BSc or HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a commercially related discipline.

*

Estimating experience is essential.

*

Experience within the Power Transmission & Distribution sector is preferred.

*

Proficiency with NEC3 and NEC4 contracts (Options A & C).

*

Excellent computer skills, particularly in the MS Office suite.

*

Ability to read, interpret, and analyse project programmes.

*

Strong commercial and contractual acumen.

*

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

*

Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.

*

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines.

Daily Rate: Competitive (based on experience)
