Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Vanbrugh Group is working with a respected main contractor in the social housing sector to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for a flagship planned maintenance and refurbishment programme in Borehamwood. The successful candidate will be divide their time from site, working from home and the head office (East London), overseeing the commercial aspects of a long-term framework agreement with one of the UK’s leading housing associations.
The Role:
As Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management and cost control of multiple workstreams under a PPC2000 (Partnering) form of contract. Your role will involve end-to-end cost management of internal and external works, including:
Preparing applications for payment and processing client valuations in accordance with PPC contract mechanisms
Managing subcontractor procurement, negotiation, onboarding, and payment
Issuing and responding to early warnings and compensation events
Preparing cost reports, CVRs, forecasts, and final accounts
Supporting value engineering exercises and cost-saving initiatives
Conducting site visits, measuring works, and validating contractor valuations
Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and supporting contract administration
Assisting in the commercial aspects of project handover and defect resolution
Types of Works Involved:
Roofing, windows, and doors upgrades
External wall insulation, redecoration, and repairs
General planned refurbishment works
Requirements:
Professional qualification (BSc or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
3+ years experience in a Quantity Surveying role within social housing, maintenance, or refurbishment environments
Strong working knowledge of the PPC2000 contract (preferred although not essential)
Familiarity with SOR (Schedule of Rates) and measured term contracts
Excellent skills in forecasting, budgeting, and cost tracking
Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and client liaison
Proficient with Excel and commercial management software
