SHEQ Manager – Construction

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Manager
Location: London or Lancing Office

A well-established principal contractor, specialising in new build construction and façade remediation, is looking for an experienced and proactive SHEQ Manager to lead its health and safety function across multiple sites. This role is critical to driving a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance across diverse and technically challenging projects.

With operations across London, the South, and a live project in Liverpool, the role offers a high level of responsibility and a real opportunity to shape the company’s SHEQ systems and culture.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct site audits and compliance inspections across all live projects

* Travel to Liverpool site for audits every two weeks

* Define and manage staff training requirements

* Lead and maintain accreditation processes (currently SMAS, with a view to expand)

* Develop and implement health, safety, environmental, and quality policies

* Support pre-construction and tender teams with SHEQ input

* Drive the process of attaining ISO or equivalent certifications

* Ensure legal compliance and monitor evolving regulations

* Understand and apply the principles of the Golden Thread and BSR Gateway 2 and 3 (training will be provided)

Requirements:

* Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a SHEQ role within the construction industry

* Strong understanding of H&S legislation, construction compliance, and audit procedures

* Experience working on new build and/or façade remediation projects preferred

* Track record in managing accreditations and delivering improvements in SHEQ performance

* NEBOSH or equivalent qualification

* Willingness to travel regularly, including fortnightly visits to Liverpool

* Confident communicator with strong documentation and policy writing skills
