Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are working with a multi-disciplined global consultancy on one of Europe’s largest and most prestigious civil engineering projects—Hinkley Point C, the UK’s first new nuclear power station in over a generation. The project, already seven years into construction, has an estimated three years to completion.

Project Scope:

Our client is overseeing two significant packages of work:

* Roads & Networks

* Ancillary Buildings

These packages are critical to the successful delivery of the wider Hinkley Point C project, requiring experienced commercial leadership to ensure alignment with programme goals, cost control, and contractual compliance.

Role Overview:

We are seeking experienced Commercial Leads to manage these packages and act as the key commercial interface between the client and contractors. You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of each package, ensuring work is performed to contract requirements, timelines, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead the commercial management of one of the two major packages (Roads & Networks or Ancillary Buildings)

* Administer and manage NEC suite of contracts (ECC, PSC)

* Interface with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to manage project budgets, variations, and risk

* Ensure contractual compliance and best practice in procurement and cost management

* Provide regular commercial reporting and forecasting to senior management

* Support dispute resolution and claims assessment processes if required

Key Requirements:

* Proven experience in a commercial leadership role within civil engineering projects

* Strong understanding and hands-on experience with the NEC suite of contracts

* Experience in either a consultancy/client-side or contractor environment

* Ability to manage complex infrastructure packages, ideally on major projects

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

* Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Civil Engineering preferred

Working Arrangement:

* Hybrid working – 2 days per week at client office in Bridgwater, Somerset

* 3 days home working
