Your new role

Our client is seeking a Groundwork Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to play a pivotal role in the commercial success of projects across Merseyside and surrounding areas. You'll be responsible for both estimating new work and commercially managing live groundwork packages, primarily on high-rise residential and commercial developments. This is a hybrid role ideal for someone looking to take full ownership of tendering and post-contract cost control.

Responsibilities will include:

Preparing detailed cost estimates and competitive tenders for groundwork and RC packages

Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings to assess project scope

Identifying and measuring materials, labour, and plant requirements

Managing subcontractor procurement and negotiation

Preparing and issuing enquiries for subcontractors and suppliers

Monitoring ongoing project costs and preparing monthly CVRs

Liaising with project managers to ensure alignment between commercial and operational teams

Managing variations, valuations, and final accounts

Reporting to the Commercial Director on project performance and risk

What you will need to succeed:

Proven experience in groundworks and civil engineering as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator

Track record of pricing and managing groundwork packages on high-rise or commercial schemes

Excellent understanding of construction contracts and cost control procedures

Strong negotiation and analytical skills

Proficient in estimating and take-off software (e.g. Conquest, Causeway, Bluebeam or similar)

Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Full UK driving licence
