Senior Estimator

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Estimator to join a growing infrastructure contractor delivering projects across the utilities and civil engineering sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase, producing accurate and competitive cost estimates that help secure high-value, long-term projects.

You’ll be joining a forward-thinking team at an exciting time of growth and development. The ideal candidate will bring strong estimating experience, sector-specific knowledge, and a proactive approach to leading tenders from inception to submission.

Key Responsibilities

Produce accurate cost estimates using drawings, specifications, and BIM/CAD models.

Build up rates from first principles (labour, plant, materials, subcontract).

*

Prepare clear, detailed tender submissions that align with client and framework requirements.

*

Understand and assess project specifications, contract conditions, and delivery programmes.

*

Identify risks, opportunities, and commercial considerations within each tender.

*

Lead and mentor a small team of estimators, encouraging continuous improvement.

*

Ensure all bids are compliant with health & safety, technical, and operational requirements.

*

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop realistic delivery programmes.

*

Maintain up-to-date market knowledge to inform pricing and procurement strategies.

Experience Required

*

Proven track record of successful bidding within the utilities or civil engineering sector

Experience leading estimating processes and overseeing bid submissions

*

Understanding of NEC contracts and framework bidding is advantageous

Qualifications

Essential:

*

Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field

*

In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry practices

Desirable:

*

Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) software

*

Experience using estimating software platforms (e.g., Causeway, Candy, Conquest)
