Reports To: Project Director
Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term (aligned with project duration)
Role Overview:
The Construction Support Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of National Grid infrastructure projects. This includes overseeing construction logistics, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and supporting the project team in achieving key milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination:
Support the planning and execution of construction activities across multiple sites.
Liaise with National Grid representatives, contractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
Assist in the development and maintenance of construction schedules and resource plans.
Site Support & Logistics:
Manage site setup, access, and logistics to ensure smooth operations.
Coordinate delivery and storage of materials and equipment.
Monitor and report on site progress, risks, and issues.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with National Grid and CDM regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure construction activities meet quality standards and project specifications.
Maintain accurate records, including daily site reports, permits, and inspection logs.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as a point of contact for site-based queries and issues.
Support community engagement and manage local stakeholder concerns where applicable.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proven experience in a construction support or site management role, ideally within the utilities or energy sector.
Experience working on National Grid or similar high-voltage infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of construction methodologies, logistics, and HSE regulations.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Proficient in MS Office and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
Valid CSCS card; SMSTS or equivalent certification preferred.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
