Senior Quantity Surveyor
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a reputable civil engineering and utilities contractor delivering essential infrastructure projects across the Southeast. Based in or around Kent, you will play a key role in overseeing the financial management and commercial performance of multiple live projects within the water, energy, or wider infrastructure sectors.
You’ll be working alongside delivery and pre-construction teams, providing accurate cost control, contract management, and commercial reporting to ensure project success from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the full commercial lifecycle of civil engineering and utility projects, from pre-contract to final account.
*
Manage and administer NEC contracts, including compensation events, early warnings, and variations.
*
Prepare cost/value reports and manage cash flow forecasts.
*
Carry out accurate valuations, applications for payment, and agreement of interim and final accounts.
*
Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
*
Work closely with the operations team to ensure accurate forecasting and budgeting.
*
Lead or support subcontract procurement, negotiation, and contract administration.
*
Ensure commercial compliance with contract terms and internal reporting procedures.
*
Mentor and support junior QS staff where appropriate.

Experience Required
*
Significant experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the utilities, infrastructure, or civil engineering sectors.
*
Proven ability to commercially manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity.
*
Demonstrable success in managing subcontractor relationships and project costs.
Qualifications
Essential:
*
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)
*
Strong working knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts
Desirable:
*
Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB, ICES)
*
Experience in water, wastewater, or utility frameworks
