General foreman
My client are a leading civil engineering specialist who operate nationwide. They deliver critical infrastructure schemes across the UK including projects within the rail, highway and aviation sector. They are looking to onboard a general foreman for a new contract being delivered in the capital.
General foreman responsibilities:

Oversee daily operations on-site, ensuring work is carried out according to plans and schedules.
*
Supervise and coordinate teams of tradespeople, labourers, and sub-foremen.
*
Allocate tasks and monitor progress, adjusting resources as needed.
* Assist with short-term and long-term project planning.
*
Coordinate with project managers and engineers to sequence tasks efficiently.
*
Monitor and report on project milestones and daily progress.
*
Enforce all HSE policies and ensure a safe working environment.
*
Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
*
Investigate and report incidents, near misses, or unsafe practices.
*
Ensure work meets quality standards and engineering specifications.
*
Identify and address any defects or non-compliance issues.
*
Liaise with quality inspectors and engineers for inspections.
*
Ensure timely delivery and proper storage of materials.
*
Monitor use of tools, machinery, and equipment.
*
Coordinate with procurement or site logistics teams.
*
Act as the main point of contact between site teams and project management.
*
Provide regular updates and reports on progress, issues, and resource needs.
*
Maintain site records, including daily diaries and time-sheets.
General foreman requirements:
* Right to work in the UK.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
* CSCS card.
* SMSTS.
* First aid.
* TWS/TWC – desirable.
* Safety critical medical – this can be arranged.
* Proven experience in a general foreman's role.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Strong communication skills.
* IT literate.
