Senior Electrical Engineer
Senior Electrical Engineer – Birmingham
£45,000 – £55,000 + Hybrid + Flexible Working Hours + Bonus + Unique Projects
Power the Facilities That Power Breakthroughs
This isn’t just another building services role. It’s your opportunity to engineer the critical electrical infrastructure behind some of the most advanced life science facilities in the world—places where pioneering treatments are discovered, produced, and delivered to those who need them most.
We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who thrives on complexity, who wants to work on high-stakes projects with global significance, and who’s ready to help shape the future of healthcare infrastructure. You’ll be a key force behind projects that are anything but standard—each one uniquely engineered to serve science and save lives.
Why This Role is Different
* Your designs will power progress. From cleanrooms and containment labs to vaccine manufacturing suites—every socket, circuit, and backup system you design will play a role in life-saving work.
* You’ll lead and inspire. With the autonomy to shape your own projects and the opportunity to grow into a leadership role, this is your chance to drive impact from day one.
* You’ll solve challenges others never face. Think high-reliability power distribution, redundant systems for mission-critical environments, and integration with world-class clean utilities.
* You’ll be part of something bigger. Every project here is a chance to make a measurable impact on human health and scientific advancement.
What You’ll Do
* Lead and deliver electrical design packages across major life science and high-tech industrial projects.
* Scope, plan, and design systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, standby generation, and low-voltage systems.
* Prepare electrical load assessments, cable sizing, fault level studies, and coordination drawings using industry-leading tools (Amtech, Dialux, Revit, AutoCAD).
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated, code-compliant designs.
* Interpret and apply British Standards, Eurocodes, IEC, IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and relevant international codes.
* Engage with clients, stakeholders, and contractors from concept to commissioning.
* Mentor junior engineers and help build a high-performing electrical design team with a long-term vision.
* Drive innovation in sustainable design, energy efficiency, and digital engineering practices.
What You’ll Bring
* 5+ years of electrical engineering experience within building services, preferably in pharma, biotech, or complex industrial settings.
* Degree-qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
* Chartered Engineer (or working towards) with CIBSE, IET, or relevant body.
* Deep knowledge of power systems, emergency supply, building automation, and critical systems design.
* Strong BIM and digital design capabilities (Revit, AutoCAD, Amtech, etc.).
* A problem-solving mindset, strong communication skills, and a passion for purposeful engineering.
What You’ll Get in Return
* The chance to work on projects that truly matter—delivering infrastructure for facilities that save lives every day.
* A pathway to leadership, with support to shape your own team and career trajectory.
* A collaborative, innovation-driven culture where your ideas are heard, and your impact is real.
* Flexible hybrid working, excellent benefits, and a global network of professionals.
The Bottom Line
If you’re ready to move beyond conventional projects and contribute to something far more meaningful, this is your opportunity to engineer the systems that enable scientific breakthroughs
