A major UK infrastructure project, valued at £9 billion, is now seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team. This is a rare opportunity to take a senior commercial leadership role on one of the country’s most complex and high-profile civil engineering projects.

About the Role:

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a strategic and hands-on role in overseeing all commercial aspects of the project. You’ll lead a team of Quantity Surveyors and work closely with project directors, delivery teams, and stakeholders to ensure commercial success across key packages.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors across multiple civil engineering packages.

* Provide expert commercial guidance on procurement, cost control, subcontractor management, and contract administration.

* Oversee cost forecasting, risk management, and value engineering initiatives.

* Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and manage any disputes or claims.

* Work collaboratively with internal teams and client representatives to ensure project targets are met.

Requirements:

* Substantial experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS on major infrastructure projects (ideally £500m+).

* Strong civil engineering background across disciplines such as earthworks, structures, utilities, and highways.

* Deep understanding of NEC or similar standard forms of contract.

* Proven team leadership and stakeholder management skills.

* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.

* Professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB, MICE) preferred.
