We are recruiting on behalf of a growing building services and maintenance contractor seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to join their Fire & Security division. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to take on a varied and rewarding role with strong progression opportunities.

Overview

This role involves the installation, modification, and maintenance of a wide range of fire alarm systems in both commercial and residential settings. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team and is expected to work proactively, flexibly, and in line with industry and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Installation and modification of fire detection systems.

* Servicing and maintenance of fire alarms and AOV systems in accordance with BS5839-1 and BS7346-8.

* Working with both addressable and conventional systems, including Apollo, Advanced, Kentec, Morley, Gent, EMS.

* Programming systems and managing cause and effect strategies.

* Supporting junior engineers and assisting in the office as needed.

* Attending internal meetings including H&S and team reviews.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

* Proven experience with installation and servicing of fire alarm systems.

* In-depth knowledge of BS5839-1 and AOV systems.

* FIA Units 1 to 6.

* ECS Card (valid and up to date).

* Minimum of Level 6 qualification (e.g., Bachelor’s, Master’s, or HND).

* Knowledge of current fire safety legislation and best practices.

* Experience with programming and understanding cause and effect logic.

Technical Skills:

* Strong practical understanding of fire alarms and their integration with associated security systems.

* Proficient in reading specifications, drawings, and tender documentation.

* Confident using IT systems including spreadsheets, word processing, and programming tools.

* Capable of planning and organising works to meet deadlines and milestones.

Soft Skills:

* Clear verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.

* Problem-solving mindset with a proactive and flexible approach.

* Strong presentation and reporting skills.

Other Requirements

* Willingness to travel to multiple sites.

* Flexibility to work out of hours when required (pre-agreed).

* Commitment to ongoing learning and contributing to team development.
