This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an ambitious Engineer who has exposure to any area of the UK piling, foundations or ground and geotechnical engineering sectors. This position is working from home with occasional travel to sites as required. A full UK driving licence is required, no visa or sponsorship is available.
The Role
Due to continued growth, new investment and a significant increase in workload, our client has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Estimator to support their further ambitious expansion plans. The successful candidate will possess a relevant qualification, coupled with 2-3 years’ experience in any area of the piling, foundations or ground engineering sectors, and this could be from any discipline (Site / Contract / Project Engineer, Estimator, Design Engineer etc).
Role Specifications
* Interpret specifications, engineering plans and drawings to determine the scope of works
* Interpret GI reports to identify possible risks within the ground, and the chosen installation
* Check the tender requirements against the Company’s governance procedure and strategy to determine the most appropriate engineering solution
* Interpret and understand designs using information supplied by the client and in house team
* In conjunction with the Contracts Team, conduct site inspections for analysis of conditions, assessment of risk and identification of activities that may or may not be shown in the tender scope
* Review contract conditions and incorporate the requirements within a written tender submission Liaise with clients on an ongoing basis to determine progress of tender
* Contact with clients is to be recorded using a CRM system, which is to be updated with progress
The Person
* Experience of working within the piling or ground – geotechnical engineering sector
* A confident and articulate communicator with experience of dealing with clients and building strong working relationships
* Prepared to develop your own knowledge and professional status, and driven to achieve targets
* Ability to identify any possible risk items when tendering for new projects and highlight as required Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2007 & 2015
* Excellent maths / numerical acumen and the ability to manipulate data to determine trends
* Excellent IT skills with knowledge of key Microsoft applications, and some knowledge of AutoCAD software for drawings used in the tendering process
* Good problem solving skills and the ability to pay close attention to detail
* An organised approach to work and the ability to meet deadlines
* Provide support to the HSEQ, Commercial and Contracts team in aiding the completion of PQQ’s Flexible work ethic and being a team player is critical, and a full UK driving licence
