Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer (Junior to Intermediate)
Location: Greater Southampton (Full-time office-based with ad hoc WFH flexibility)
Salary: £28,000 to £45,000 (depending on experience)
My client, a nationally respected building services consultancy, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team in the Greater Southampton area. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with a strong focus on decarbonisation and sustainability.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will support the design and delivery of electrical building services projects across a variety of sectors. Current and upcoming projects include:
Decarbonisation schemes for hospitals and public sector estates
New-build educational facilities
Healthcare infrastructure upgrades
This role is ideally suited to a Junior to Intermediate level Electrical Engineer with a passion for sustainable design and a desire to work on technically challenging and meaningful projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Design of electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, containment, and fire alarms
Production of detailed design drawings and specifications
Collaboration with mechanical engineers and other disciplines
Site visits, surveys, and client meetings
Supporting project delivery and contributing to technical development
Requirements:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
Experience in electrical design within a consultancy or contractor environment
Understanding of UK building regulations and relevant standards (e.g. BS 7671)
Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Amtech or similar
Strong communication and teamwork skills
