Project Manager – High Voltage Substations

Approach Personnel are thrilled to be supporting a renowned Energy Contractor to source an experienced Project Manager based on their High Voltage Substation packages. This role centres around helping to deliver hollistic design solutions for multiple high profile power and energy clients across the UK.

More about the Role:

This is a full time, permanent position based onsite and in office/hybrid in the South West of the UK, including Wales and Gloucestershire. 2-3 days a week will be spent on site, with the rest spent either in the office or working remotely.

* Lead and manage impactful Electrical Transmission projects nationwide, including upcoming projects in South Wales and the South West

* Oversee a portfolio of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) projects from initiation through to completion

* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout project lifecycles

* Collaborate with a skilled, expert team to drive project success

* Identify, assess, and manage project risks proactively

* Deliver projects on schedule and within allocated budgets

* Apply industry knowledge to contribute to new bid proposals and business development

* Drive overall team performance and success through effective leadership and communication

What we are looking for?

* Extensive experience in National Grid substation construction, including practical knowledge of NG SRs, Rules, and EPC/M&E Frameworks

* Proven leadership capabilities in Design and Build projects, successfully managing cross-functional teams

* Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage clients and suppliers

* Relevant qualifications in construction, engineering, or equivalent practical experience

* Project Management certification (e.g., APM, PMP) or equivalent expertise

* Strong commercial acumen, particularly with NEC contracts

* Demonstrated expertise in identifying and managing risks and opportunities

* Comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks including HSWA, CDM, EAWR, and others

* Proven ability to lead projects through all phases of the lifecycle

* Experience in managing budgets with a consistent track record of delivering projects on time and within budget

* Proficiency in using Project Management software tools
