The Role

As the Commercial Manager, you will be manage opportunities through the sales process and subsequent project lifecycle, maximising the commercial success of projects.

You will also explore new avenues of business development activities and seek opportunities to grow and develop a portfolio of clients.

The Team

This role is part of the Major Projects division within the Commercial team, responsible for working with tier 1 large-scale projects typically worth multimillions, involving public and private stakeholders. The team are responsible for ensuring that projects are running smoothly, making sure that legal and quality standards are met. Whether they’re working on residential or commercial projects, clients rely on the team to deliver the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

The tasks you will be responsible for include (but not limited to):

Sales Process & Business Development

* Identify, investigate and qualify targets, opportunities and accounts

* Prepare cost, sales value and margin workings in-line with our commercial targets

* Lead efforts to develop and maintain effective client relationships to increase revenue

* Contribute towards the market strategy and its implementation

* Negotiate the value and scope of contracts

* Review and implement effective pricing strategies and closing tactics

* Identify optimal scope of works and accurately quantify works

* Ensure all bids are compliant with relevant regulations and our policies

* Present relevant information at appropriate forums such as sales meetings

Project Performance

Use best practice Commercial Management procedures for the full project life-cycle (incl. billing)

Cohesively interface with the Delivery Team to ensure service excellence is achieved throughout the project life-cycle

Maintain flawless information and communication management, both internally and externally

Review and develop operational processes to improve project performance

Provide the business with accurate project updates

Safeguarding & De-risking

* Manage risk assessments for new initiatives

* Participate in tender settlements, review documentation, ensure proper implementation of best practice T&Cs

* Keep abreast of latest trends and developments, where necessary represent us in industry events

Teamwork

* Work collaboratively with the Delivery Team and relevant departments to develop accurate and consistent approach to deliver projects

* Promote company and service excellence throughout the full commercial lifecycle

* Assist and support other members of the Commercial Team where required

* Contribute towards building and maintaining a positive workplace for all our staff

Person Specification

Proven experience in tier 1 commercial management, ideally within the construction or fireproofing sector

Qualification in quantity surveying or commercial management

Enthusiasm for and experience in cultivating lasting relationships
