Section Engineer

As a Site Engineer on HS2, you will be instrumental in the successful delivery of critical sections of the project. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Setting out and Surveying: Accurately setting out works according to drawings and specifications, utilising modern surveying equipment (total stations, GPS, laser levels).
Quality Assurance: Ensuring all works are carried out to the highest quality standards, conducting regular inspections, and maintaining detailed records.
Technical Compliance: Verifying that construction activities comply with design specifications, technical drawings, and relevant standards.
Health & Safety: Promoting and enforcing a strong health and safety culture on site, ensuring all activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with company procedures and regulations.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintaining comprehensive site records, including diaries, progress reports, quality checks, and as-built drawings.
Subcontractor Management: Overseeing and coordinating the work of subcontractors, ensuring adherence to programme and quality standards.
Problem Solving: Proactively identifying and resolving technical issues and clashes on site, collaborating with design teams and other stakeholders.
Material Control: Assisting with the ordering, checking, and management of site materials to prevent delays and waste.
Collaboration: Working closely with Project Managers, Senior Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, and other site personnel to ensure seamless project execution.Requirements

Experience: Proven experience as a Site Engineere in large-scale civil engineering projects. Experience on rail, highways, or major infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
Qualifications: Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of surveying equipment (total stations, GPS) and CAD software.
Problem Solver: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build effective working relationships with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
Proactive: Highly motivated, organised, and able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Health & Safety: Demonstrable commitment to health and safety best practice.
