Senior Section Engineer (Sub Agent Duties) – Highways

Location: Highways Areas 6 & 8 (East of England & East Midlands) Job Type: Long-Term Freelance Contract Shifts: Night Work (7:00 PM – 5:00 AM) Start Date: Immediate Start

Are you an experienced Sub Agent or a Senior Engineer ready to step up, with a strong background in highways and a preference for night work?

We have an urgent requirement for a dedicated and experienced highways professional to take on a key role within a major framework covering Highways Areas 6 & 8. This is a long-term, freelance opportunity offering an immediate start and a consistent run of night work.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing all site activities for a designated section of the highways project during night-time operations.
Supervising and managing site staff, subcontractors, and plant to ensure project delivery.
Producing and reviewing method statements, risk assessments (RAMS), and other critical site paperwork.
Ensuring strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Overseeing quality control and assurance for all works, ensuring compliance with specifications.
Maintaining accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, and as-built information for handover.
Liaising with the client, management, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project progression.
Resolving technical queries and site issues promptly and effectively.Required Skills & Experience:

Proven and extensive experience on UK highways projects is essential.
Must have experience working at a Sub Agent level or as a Senior Engineer managing large, complex sections of work.
Previous experience working night shifts is highly desirable.
A strong understanding of highways specifications, traffic management, and quality standards.
Excellent leadership, communication, and management skills.
Mandatory qualifications: Valid CSCS card and SMSTS.
A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering (HNC/HND/Degree) is preferred.This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to secure a stable, long-term contract on a major highways framework, with a rate of pay that reflects the Sub Agent level of responsibility.
