Electrical Shift Lead

I am partering with a leading financial services wealth management company who are actively recruiting for a shift lead to oversee a team of shift technicians in maintaining critical plant infrastructure.

Static site based in Central LondonDuties:

Act as an Authorised Person (AP) for HV systems, carrying out safe switching, isolation, and energisation in accordance with site Electrical Safety Rules.

Prepare and issue HV/LV permits to work, switching schedules, and safety documentation.

Maintain and update all HV drawings, schematics, and network records for compliance and operational accuracy.

Liaise with DNOs, contractors, and vendors during HV system works, maintenance, and testing.

Ensure all HV/LV systems (switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators) are maintained and operated safely and efficiently.

Lead a team of multi-skilled engineers during shift operations across critical infrastructure and business areas.

Supervise and coordinate all PPM and reactive maintenance activities across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and life safety systems.

Allocate and oversee engineering tasks, ensuring effective delegation and timely completion.

Deliver structured shift handovers, including detailed reports on incidents, maintenance activity, and outstanding issues.

Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and ensure high performance across the team.

Oversee maintenance and fault response for critical power systems, including UPS, backup generators, and emergency lighting.

Monitor, test, and optimise Building Management Systems (BMS), power distribution units (PDUs), and environmental controls.

Respond to alarms and system failures with urgency, ensuring zero downtime to trading floors or critical IT infrastructure.

Support change control procedures, ensuring strict adherence to risk protocols and documentation standards.

Ensure all engineering activities are carried out in compliance with SFG20, HTM, British Standards, and internal SLAs.

Lead on permits to work, tool box talks and assigning PPMs to engineersRequirements:

High Voltage Experience – HVAP (Valid or recently lapsed)
Apprentice Trained or NVQ Level 3 min. in Electrical Installations
C&G 18th Edition
